c) Disclosing your personal information to others

d) Chat sessions
When you request live chat assistance from support agents, chat sessions are being recorded for quality assurance and training purposes, as well as to improve our products and services. As a result, all information exchanged during such chat sessions may be collected and used by us as part of our internal processes.
2. Non-personal information
We collect and use non-personal information in the following ways.
a) Internet Protocol (IP) addresses
When you visit our site, we log your IP address (the unique address which identifies your computer on the internet). We use IP addresses to collect broad geographic information on our site visitors. We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information.

In order to develop our site in line with our customers’ needs, Hiscox keeps a track on which pages on our website are visited most frequently and how long visitors spend on our site. We use this information to help improve the site.
We never gather other information from your disk or computer. We collect a copy of the data held by the cookie for inclusion in any analysis. We use full SSL protocols when collecting visitor information on secure pages; this ensures that the site’s security is not compromised. We encrypt all transmitted visitor information (even from non-secure pages), so no-one else can read the information we gather.
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics sets a cookie in order to evaluate your use of this site. Google stores the information collected by the cookie on servers in the United States. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Hiscox use Google Analytics to optimise this site and improve the service we provide to our visitors. None of the information can be traced to an individual – we do not know who you are as a unique user, merely that there are a certain number of people using the site. We only collect data that relates to what goes on in the Hiscox site and the information cannot be used for marketing on an individual basis.
d) Disclosing your non-personal information to others
We use a third party advertising company to serve ads on our behalf across the Internet. The third party may also collect anonymous information about your visits to our website. This is done by using a technology device commonly referred to as an action tag, which we place on various web pages within our website or in an html e-mail that allows the third party to collect anonymous information.
